Our Programs

Our programs will largely be done in person in our community. We will have large specialized teaching sessions at certain times of the year, namely summer programs for youths. These will consist of "classroom" learning experiences, where we teach the ideas and principles behind the skills, and "field" learning where we show how to practically apply the skills. We will also have apprentice and worker programs where you will learn through hands-on experience throughout the year.

Permaculture and Water Treatment

This program will cover the basics of eco-friendly farming. Including but not limited to ground development, building garden beds, plant selection, nutrition facts, water collection, and water purification. It is our goal to provide participants with the skills to build their own garden in a way that suits their situation and needs. As feasible, we will help organize a community food forest in their area.

Disaster Prep and Response

This program will be similar to a CERT basic training, but a bit more in-depth and with more hands-on training. We will cover topics such as prep tools, go-packs, search and rescue, fire mitigation, emergency shelters, basic first aid, and the NIMS protocols. It is our intention for participants of this program to be able to prepare themselves and their families for disasters and also to be able to serve their community in the event of a disaster.

Defense

We wish to train people in the skills necessary to defend both themselves and those around them. Self defense skills and the confidence that comes with them will reduce a person’s susceptibility to be victimized in domestic violence, human trafficking, harassment, and such. We will also show people how to responsibly and safely stand up for others. We hold the belief that it is the responsibility of capable people to protect less capable people in times of need, and wish to grow this culture.

Leadership and Organization

This program will be focusing on the skills necessary for community leadership, such as strategic planning, community organization, critical thinking, and communication skills. Our goal with this program is to give visionaries the tools they need to make their dreams a reality. We believe that there are a great many people who have ideas for how to help their community. Often these dreams are cast off as impossible. We want to show dreamers how to make them possible.

Mindset and Critical Thinking

All of these programs will be structured and led in a way that encourages freedom of thought and creativity. We will not be using a "one correct answer" method, but will instead explain the problems that must be solved and give examples of solutions. The intent of doing this is to help people grow their self-confidence and design their lives to better suit them. We want everyone who leaves our programs to be able to achieve personal success, however they define it.
